Peka Kroef acquires Frespo from Nimbus.

JBR guided the shareholders of Peka Kroef in the acquisition of Frespo.

Peka Kroef wanted to expand its production capacity due to the full utilization of its current capacity and increasing demand. With the acquisition of Frespo, Peka Kroef is strengthening its position as a leading player in the market for chilled potato products and significantly expanding its capacity to meet the growing demand for high-quality potato products.

Peka Kroef is a forerunner in the field of environmentally conscious and circular processes. In its sustainability report, attention to the environment and climate is evident thanks to the use of residual heat from its own processes and circular residual flows through water purification techniques, among other things. The increase in capacity enables Peka Kroef to meet existing market and customer demand and to respond more efficiently to growth opportunities in new markets and segments. Moreover, it creates new opportunities for further innovation and development for sustainable and circular processes and products.

Peka Kroef

Peka Kroef has its roots in the Peel, a traditionally high moorland area in the province of North Brabant. The Kroef family is among the very first Peel pioneers.

  • The company was founded in the 1970s by Gerard Kroef and, now together with his son Bart Kroef, is closely involved. Edwin Holleman is managing director and responsible for the daily management
  • Peka Kroef has been among the leading manufacturers for 50 years and specializes in chilled potato products for the foodservice and retail and consumer markets
  • The company has a strong market position and with renowned Dutch and foreign customers is an important supplier

Frespo

Frespo (previously Aviko Cuijk) was a successful part of the Aviko Group for decades. Nimbus has recently corporatized Aviko Cuijk plant and sees Peka Kroef as the ideal partner to continue the business successfully.

  • Frespo focuses on steam-fresh and pre-cooked potato products for Foodservice and Business-to-Industry markets across Europe
  • The company has 49 SKUs and a production capacity of 35kt per year
  • There is one production line for pre-cooked products with about 23kt per year and one production line for steam-fresh products with about 12kt per year

Potato processor Peka Kroef B.V. signed an agreement with investment company Nimbus regarding the acquisition of potato processor Frespo B.V. on March 14, 2024.

With the acquisition of Frespo, Peka Kroef is strengthening its position as a leading player in the market for chilled potato products and is substantially expanding its capacity to meet the growing demand for high-quality potato products. The increase in capacity will allow Peka Kroef not only to better meet existing market and customer demand, but also to respond more efficiently to growth opportunities offered by new markets and segments. This strategic move will improve operational efficiency and create new opportunities for innovation and product development.
